Dorin Recean: Referendum on Moldova’s accession to EU will ensure cohesion in society

The referendum on Moldova’s accession to the EU will ensure cohesion in society for the country’s prosperous future, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said in discussions with the public authorities of Nisporeni district while on a working visit there. The modernization of localities in Moldova and strengthening of cooperation between the central and local public authorities to accelerate Moldova’s accession to the European Union were treated at a meeting with mayors and representatives of deconcentrated services in the district, IPN reports.

“We irreversibly anchor our country to the European path, through the contribution of each mayor. We have a common goal, which is to build Europe at home. We want European infrastructure in our villages and cities, high-paying jobs and high-quality public services provided to the citizens,” said Premier Recean.

The official referred also to the efforts made by the government to develop the localities, emphasizing the European Village and European Village Express programs that support infrastructure projects. Dorin Recean underlined the importance of fully using the external financial assistance to improve the quality of life in the country’s localities.

The discussions also centered on such subjects as road rehabilitation, construction of the bridge over the Prut in Bărboieni, which is expected to boost the Moldovan-Romanian economic relations, the benefits of regionalization of public services, the construction of a fire and rescue station and also the installation of photovoltaic panels to supply public institutions with energy.
