”There were hundreds of discussions on the issue and I think that a million of collages can be made from those discussions,” acting Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean said, referring to the recordings of telephone conversations between him and the head of the Main State Tax Inspectorate Nicolae Vicol. He didn’t confirm the authenticity of those conversations, IPN reports.
”We coordinated a number of common activities. Now I can understand why a part of those common actions did not produce the expected result,” the official said in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1.
Dorin Recean stated that until March 5, as a minister managing the police sector, he had many telephone discussions, including with Nicolae Vicol, because there were many joint operations of the fraud squad and the Tax Inspectorate.
Constitutional law expert Vitalie Catana said that the authenticity of the recordings disseminated by the media can be confirmed or proved false by examination.
A number of recordings of tapped phone conversations were sent to a number of media outlets on February 18. They were discussions between Nicolae Vicol and a number of high-ranking officials, including Prime Minister Vlad Filat, the head of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet, and Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean. They concerned companies, inspections, fines and other issues.
