Criminals walk freely on the street, while those who committed minor offenses are immediately arrested and jailed. The problem resides in the corrupt minority existing inside the justice system, Prime Minister Dorin Recean stated at the Justice and Anticorruption Reform Forum organized by the Legal Resources Center of Moldova. According to the official, the government offers absolutely all the necessary instruments for the system to be reformed, but upright persons from the system should take a step forward, while the reform should be done by prosecutors and judges, IPN reports.
Premier Recean said that during his visits to districts, three in five citizens complain about illegalities in the justice sector, about the actions of police officers, prosecutors, judges, etc. The problem resides in the corrupt minority existing inside the justice system and it’s time to wake up and bring about this change. “A mother does not understand what attenuating circumstances mean for an inebriated driver who struck her child to death in a road accident. The citizens seek justice from the Cabinet, from the Prime Minister, from the minister of justice as the corrupt minority from inside the system does not listen to them. This is our fundamental problem,” noted the official.
“We must build a state with the rule of law and make sure that we offer the necessary instruments for the prosecutors and judges to clear themselves Not the Cabinet should do justice. The judiciary should do justice. My call is to return to normality. The Cabinet and the government offer absolutely all the instruments needed for the system to be reformed. The honest, upright people from the system should take a step forward and this reform should be done by prosecutors and judges.”
