The Russian Cultural Center in Chisinau, which was closed by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova, was a center with agents of influence, Prime Minister Dorin Recean stated in a program on Jurnal TV channel. According to the head of the executive, the closure of the center is not a disregard of Russian culture or language, but a necessary action to protect the national interest, IPN reports.

The decision to close the Russian Cultural Center was taken following the repeated violation of the airspace of the Republic of Moldova by Russian drones. According to the prime minister, the activities carried out within the center went beyond the cultural sphere, involving actions that affected national security.

"It is important for Russia to respect the Republic of Moldova and the Moldovans and not to send its agents of influence disguised as people of culture," Premier Recean said in the program "The Shadow Cabinet" on Jurnal TV.

The official reiterated the Government's commitment to protecting national interests and stressed that the measure is aimed not at undermining cultural relations, but at ensuring the security of the Republic of Moldova.

"The Republic of Moldova has nothing against Russian culture. It has nothing against the Russian language. The Republic of Moldova must put the national interest at the forefront," stated Dorin Recean.

"All those who today rush to defend the so-called Russian Cultural Center went to Moscow, knelt down and received orders to act against the country," added.

Following a massive attack on the Reni Seaport of Ukraine, a number of Russian drones crossed the airspace of the Republic of Moldova. One of the drones fell on an agricultural field near Ciumai village of Taraclia district. Another drone exploded in a field near Ceadîr-Lunga town.
