The Cabinet on Friday approved the state budget for next year. According to Prime Minister Dorin Recean, the budget for 2024 can be called “Investing in children” as the largest part of the money is designed for the future of the children, who will build Moldova tomorrow through access to modern and high-quality education, for a united and prosperous society, IPN reports.
“The budget is yet tight. We are making effort to grow the economy. We therefore need to prioritize things and we thus decided to allocate more money for our future in 2024, which is for our children so as to stimulate and grow the generation that will build the future of the Republic of Moldova. So, about 70% of the pay raises in 2024 will be intended for teachers, for those who raise and educate our children,” Dorin Recean stated in the Cabinet’s meeting.
According to him, about 1 billion lei next year will go to increase the pays of over 50,000 teachers by 15%. The scholarships of students of teacher-training faculties will be increased twofold so that the schools have teachers who contribute to a better future for children.
As of January 1, 2024, the child birth allowance will be 20,000 lei. The allocations for the program “Family and Child Protection” will also be raised. Money was earmarked for developing villages and towns so that the families enjoy good conditions at home, while the children, no matter where they are born, enjoy the same development opportunities.
“Furthermore, in 2024 we will continue to invest in communities, businesses and economic development. We allocated almost 200 million lei for supporting enterprises through entrepreneurship support programs, including the “373” program. We raised the cold-month allowances and will continue providing on-bill compensation for energy costs,” stated Premier Recean.
The 2024 state budget is to be examined and adopted by Parliament.
