The Chisinau residents who benefited from compensations for heat will benefit from similar compensations for trips by public transport. The regulations will be adopted by the Chisinau Municipal Council by October 1, Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The Communist councilors criticized today the mayor for his work and demanded that the decisions to raise the trolleybus and bus fares and the water and sewerage charges be annulled. In response, the mayor said that he is ready to discuss the issue of the rise in tariffs in public. “We must set real and fair prices for the public services. The persons that cannot pay for these services will be provided with compensations. “It should be noted that the public services in the municipality of Chisinau are the cheapest. Even if the water charge was raised, the drinking water in Chisinau remains the cheapest. In Balti and the districts it is much more expensive. The fares are the cheapest in Europe even if they have been now increased,” Dorin Chirtoaca said. Those who want to receive compensations will have to submit applications to the Social Protection Division. Compensations of 70 lei a month will be paid to persons whose monthly income does not exceed 1,450 lei.
