“This year we celebrate 579 years of the first documentary attestation. It is more than half of millennium. We have a history behind and a future ahead and we can together build this future, as we have built together the present Chisinau during the last eight years. Today Chisinau sees a stable development,” Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said on the eve of City’s Day. Contacted by IPN, the mayor said that he wants this stable development to continue the next years so that the future generations and the current ones live in better conditions.
Dorin Chirtoaca admitted that there are things that cause dissatisfaction among the residents of Chisinau, but said that the development implies also problems and discomfort. According to him, the building sites in the center of Chisinau often disrupt traffic. There were closed street sections. More street repair works will be performed as these are inevitable if we want the central and secondary streets and the suburban ones to be of a good quality.
“All the difficulties through which we go are inevitable when we cover this road. It is a difficult road that is like an incline or is like when you carry a load on the back during many years, but we cannot reach welfare otherwise,” stated the mayor.
Dorin Chirtoaca anticipated that in 10 years the capital city will have a fully European public transport system with better organized and fluidized traffic, with thermally insulated apartment buildings that will consume less heat, with a waste management system that will meet the European standards, with all the residents of Chisinau municipality connected to the water supply and sewerage system, with more recreational areas for those who will choose to spend the leisure time at home.
“I see Chisinau as a city with more workplaces, with more opportunities for young people so that we feel comfortable at home. There will be more pedestrian areas downtown so that the people socialize and rest there,” said the mayor.
