There are two chances for reforms to be done in Moldova – by revolution or by exerting pressure on the Government, the deputy chairman of the Liberal Party (PL) Dorin Chirtoaca, who is the Mayor of Chisinau, said in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel.

“We either start a revolution on the Day of Chisinau and those who seize power will show us that they can govern better or we exert pressure on the Government. There is no other way out. We need EU experts and advisers to help us. I don’t know if we ultimately reach normal living standards. This will probably happen in about 40 years,” said the mayor.

In the same connection, the Liberal heavyweight accused the PL’s alliance colleagues – the Democratic Party (PDM) and the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) – of the situation created in the country and exculpated the party that he represents. “We didn’t take out loans from the three banks. Those who were in power took that money. The PL wasn’t in power. The journalists should investigate the issue and publish the list of those who obtained loans from those banks. The PDM is to blame and the PLDM is also probably involved. The PL accepted to form an alliance with them not because of great love for them. We had to choose between forming an alliance with them or allowing them to form again an alliance with the Communists,” stated Dorin Chirtoaca.

As to the protests mounted in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau, the mayor said those people protest sincerely and really want a change for the better by integration into the EU, while those who protest in the square before the Parliament Building profit from the protest spirit so as to attract political advantages and to take over power. “Those who protest in the central square are aware and do not break the law, while those who represent the left are anarchists who want to be arrested so as to make a victim of themselves,” he said.
