The chairman of the Liberal Party Dorin Chirtoacă said the Union Political Movement is further open to all the unionist forces existing in Moldova. Only by uniting inside the Movement, the unionist parties could offer the people the possibility of voting the union so that, together with the citizens who vote the European integration, a majority is secured in Parliament and at the presidential elections.
Dorin Chirtoacă noted that nothing could be solved in Moldova otherwise. By creating such a movement, they set the direction and the parties that will deviate from the union direction will be penalized by the people. “We have not only the political part, but also the civic part. Besides the Movement Council, we have an extended Council to which we will invite all the pro-EU and pro-Romania citizens who would tell us, the politicians, where we make mistakes, where we do not make mistakes and where we deviate. We want to be tied to society so as to avoid the witnessed departures,” noted the Liberal leader.
The first vice president of the National Unity Party Vlad Țurcanu said their party will not join the Union Political Movement as they do not think that the Liberal Party, which came up with this initiative, can be the driving force of the unionists in Moldova. Both the Liberal Party and Dorin Chirtoacă, when they were in power, did not much for the unionist movement and the unification of the unionist segment wasn’t a priority for them then. “The leaders of this party, when they were in power, looked at the other people with pro-Romania views as at political opponents, not as at partners. Only now Dorin Chirtoacă started to speak smoothly and smarmily as if we forgot how they behaved towards the other Romanians in the Republic of Moldova when they held power,” stated the politician.
Vlad Țurcanu noted the Republic of Moldova should now realize that the union with Romania can be achieved by the unification of the two states that would end with a political decision.
