Dorin Chirtoaca shows European officials what he spent loans money on

Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca traveled on Friday with the Vice-President of the European Investment Bank Wilhelm Molterer in one of the new trolleybuses. The mayor he wanted to show the European official in what the borrowed money was invested, Info-Prim Neo reports. The two officials embarked from the City Hall on an old trolleybus, one of those that have been running on the city's streets since 1996. After two stops, they moved on a new one. Asked which he liked better, Wilhelm Molterer chose the second and said that it represented the way modern life must be organized. “Public transport is essential for the daily life of the people in Chisinau City”, said the official. The EIB Vice-President agreed that the allocated European funds were spent properly. “If you consider the priorities of this city, there are three of them –public transport, roads and energy efficiency, and Mr. Mayor noted them well”, added the official. The Chisinau City Hall bought 102 trolleybuses from the Belarussian company Belkommunmash. This was possible thanks to the cooperation between the Chisinau City Hall and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank and the European Union. The total cost of the project was €13.7 million. The Municipality has recently launched an assembly line for trolleybuses in Chisinau.
