Dorin Chirtoaca says reforms and cost reduction are key to economic success

“The reforms, diminution of costs, new technologies and the will to promote these things, the necessity if implementing the safe city concept, the strengthening of relations and confidence between the partner cities and the intensification of experience exchange are the key to economic success,” Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said upon his return from Israel, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Chisinau City Hall, during the visit there were set the new cooperation priorities with the twinned city Tel Aviv and established contacts with the new administration of Jerusalem and the mayor’s offices of Haifa and Nazareth. The representatives of the host cities were invited to visit Chisinau. The mayor took part in the 28th International Conference of Mayors that brought together mayors of cities and municipalities from over 30 states. Within the conference, the participants had meetings with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman, Minister of Intelligence Services Dan Meridor, and national police chief Rav Nitzav Yohanan Danino. There were also organized meetings with the Mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barkat, Mayor of Tel Aviv Ron Huldai, Mayor of Haifa Yona Yahav, and Mayor of Nazareth Ramiz Jaraisy. Dorin Chirtoaca was able to visit the Holy Sights and bought two icons for two churches – one of the Moldovan Metropolitan Church and another one of the Metropolitan Church of Bessarabia. The mayor had been in Israel on a visit during May 6-10. The International Conference of Mayors is a forum organized with the support of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Union of Local Authorities and the American Council for World Jewry.
