Dorin Chirtoacă says if he will run in local elections or not

The ex-mayor general of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoacă said he is ready to run in the upcoming local elections only if he sees support on the part of the citizens of Chisinau. “If the inhabitants of Chisinau consider that no one else is better in the post of mayor than me, I will run,” he was quoted by IPN as stating.

“For me, obtaining a term of office is not a goal in itself. I won three terms of office. I would agree to run and return to the post if there is no one more suitable and better than me and that could further implement at least the initiated projects,” explained the former mayor.

As to the situation witnessed after the parliamentary elections, Dorin Chirtoacă said he does not think alliances are needed as there is no legitimate power and the election weren’t legitimate, free and fair. “The deadlock should be broken. And how can this be done? By taking the power from Plahotniuc as he holds the power. All the others, including Dodon, act as figurants,” stated the Liberal leader.

Dorin Chirtoacă also said the Bloc ACUM and the Party of Socialists should show political maturity and identity a solution by which to take the power from Plahotniuc, to call snap elections and to make sure a legitimate, democratic Parliament is elected under the proportional representation system. The legislature’s administration should be chosen. If the Socialists insist on holding the post of Parliament Speaker, they should be offered this post and later should vote the de-oligarchization package and organize new, legitimate elections.
