Mayor General of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoaca will continue to stay under house arrest during the next 25 days. Such a decision was taken by the Buiucani-based Court of Chisinau municipality on June 22, IPN reports.
The mayor pleads not guilty. Dorin Chirtoaca told the journalists that he didn’t resort to traffic of influence and he only fulfilled his duties. “My conscience is clean. I hope I will be able to convince both the prosecution bodies and the courts of law of my innocence. Particular statements made about me are irrelevant and are even absurd,” stated the mayor.
Dorin Chirtoaca was arrested on May 25. One day later he was officially charged with influence peddling in the case of pay parking lots and was placed under house arrest.
Also today, the Buiucani-based Court of Chisinau municipality decided to transfer the secretary of the Chisinau Council Valeriu Didenko from remand detention under house arrest.
