Dorin Chirtoaca: PL will go alongside those for whom people voted

The Liberal Party (PL) will go alongside those for whom the people voted even if serious disagreements are faced with many of these, the party’s first deputy chairman Dorin Chirtoaca, Mayor of Chisinau, said in the  program “Fourth power” on N4 channel, IPN reports.

“Withdrawing to the opposition, doing nothing and waiting for free benefits are the easiest things to do. The parliamentary parties, except the PL, were 90% formed based on former nomenclaturists of the former Communist Party of the Soviet Union. If the people voted so, we must respect their choice,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.

As to dismissal of the Strelet Government, the politician said this is settling of an old score between two parties. “The Liberal Party didn’t vote. We realized this political struggle between the PDM and PLDM long ago. In a country in transition as ours, it seems normal for particular parties to separate out. The PDM was also split up once, when a group of MPs defected from it and formed the PLDM. The PCRM was also divided and attempts were made to separate the PL too. It’s now the turn of the PLDM to be divided. It will also come the turn of the PSRM,” he stated

The Liberal heavyweight noted that he will make everything possible to re-form the pro-European majority coalition in the Chisinau Municipal Council after the councilor elected on the list of the European People’s Party of Moldova Ion Stefanita withdrew from this alliance. “It was clear from the very beginning that we will have problems with this person. He reacted to the signals of the councilors from outside the alliance. The municipality of Chisinau needs an alliance to be able to go on. We need one person-vote and will yet think how to secure 26, 27 or 28 votes in the 51-member council,” said Dorin ChirtoacA.
