Dorin Chirtoaca: Memorial stone outside Government won’t be removed
The stone installed in front of the Government building in remembrance of the victims of Soviet occupation won’t be removed, even though the Socialists in the Chisinau Municipal Council want to propose a decision in this regard at the next meeting of the CMC. The statement was made by Mayor of the capital Dorin Chirtoaca.
He stated at a press briefing on Tuesday that the deadline for challenging the ordinance on the installation of the monument expired. Dorin Chirtoaca said that now there is a new ordinance regarding the contest for selecting the monument to replace the memorial stone in the Great National Assembly Square.
The memorial stone outside the Government building was installed by the City Hall in the summer of 2010. Local authorities promised they would later replace the stone with a monument.
