Dorin Chirtoaca: Local elections in 2011 will take place in 2 rounds

“The Liberal Party, obviously, will have a candidate for the local elections in 2011, like the other democratic parties and not only. It’s not hard to guess who this candidate is”, PL vice president and Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said, during a press conference on Friday held to present his year-end activity review, Info-Prim Neo reports. Dorin Chirtoaca hinted he would run for mayor again and that he wasn’t afraid of other contenders. He expects them to highlight city’s failures as his personal ones. Nevertheless, Chirtoaca says that during his term in office, he got to know every bit of city’s problems and needs. The mayor expects the elections this spring to take place in 2 rounds. In the second one, the voters will likely have to choose between a communist and one of the democratic parties’ candidates. When told about the possibility of Serafim Urecheanu running for mayor, Dorin Chirtoaca answered the former wouldn’t be a serious rival. He also hinted that it was during the Urecheanu administration the City became heavily indebted. Dorin Chirtoaca became mayor of Chisinau after winning the local elections in 2007.
