It won’t be prosperous life in the Republic of Moldova as long as the union is not made. If we want to get rid of dictatorship and overcome the situation in which the Republic of Moldova and its citizens found themselves, we should follow the path to the union, first deputy chairman of the Liberal Party (PL) Dorin Chirtoacă stated in a news conference held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the foundation of the party, IPN reports.
Dorin Chirtoacă reminded that the PL was created two years after Moldova declared its independence and this set the goal of reunifying the divided Great Romania. The struggle fought meanwhile to remove the border on the Prut didn’t produce the expected results, the Republic of Moldova experiencing a number of ordeals and disappointments.
The chairman of the PL Mihai Ghimpu regretted the fact that the ideal of Moldova’s union with Romania hasn’t been yet achieved even if significant efforts have been made in this regard. “The PL was the first party that included the “union” in its statutes. Time has come for all the parties that promote this ideal to join the PL in its efforts,” he stated.
First deputy head of the PL Corin Fusu said it is regrettable that a series of parties declared they support the ideal of Moldova’s union with Romania, but didn’t sufficiently become involved in the education of citizens.
PL deputy chairman Valeriu Munteanu noted the party he represents made effort to obtain the reunification of the Romanian nation not only while being in power, but also while being in the opposition.
The Liberal Party is the lawful and political successor of the Reform Party and was registered on September 28, 1993. The constitution conference was held on September 5, 1993 when there were adopted the party’s statutes and program. Anatol Şalaru was the first chairman of the party. The first congress was held at the start of 1999, when Mihai Ghimpu was elected the leader of the PL.
