In the negotiations on the formation of a government coalition, the Liberals will insist on the elucidation of the theft committed at Banca de Economii (BEM), the Liberal Party’s deputy chairman Dorin Chirtoaca said in the talk show “Place for dialogue” on Radio Moldova station, IPN reports.
“We will put forward harsh conditions concerning Banca de Economii. A huge sum was stolen, equal to the budget of Chisinau municipality for ten years. We didn’t struggle to allow someone to come and steal billions. In 2010, we warned that money was being stolen from the BEM. We will take a principled stand on the issue,” stated Dorin Chrtoaca.
According to him, following the stealing committed in the banking system, Russia came into possession of a part of the assets of Moldovan banks. “The Moldovan financial system was powerfully affected. The assets of a number of banks were taken over by Russian banks. The loans became much more expensive and the people prefer to keep their savings at home,” stated the Liberal heavyweight.
Dorin Chirtoaca believes that the leaders of the Democratic Party and the Liberal Democratic Party have in secret discussions with the Communists. “The last time, they held negotiations with us and ultimately formed an alliance with the Communists. I’m afraid things can repeat,” he said.
