To obtain a decisive score in the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019, the electoral bloc ACUM formed by the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) and the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” should include the Liberal Party (PL) and the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and this would be ideal. This way the bloc could win the elections, the new president of the PL Dorin Chirtoacă was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel.

According to him, more blocs than one in the parliamentary elections would mean defeat. “We are not in a jungle to struggle each for oneself. We either have the necessary reason to combine forces so as to win or we should at least make every effort and attempt to try and unify what unionist pro-European current in the Republic of Moldova means,” stated Dorin Chirtoacă.

The Liberal leader noted the party he represents is having discussions with the PLDM, PAS and PPPDA so as to reach a compromise as to the participation in elections. “From my viewpoint, the creation of one bloc is possible up to the January 24 registration deadline,” he stated. According to him, they are considering the options, starting from one bloc formed by four parties up to the participation in the commission that will decide who and where will run.

Dorin Chirtoacă noted he suggested that civil society should also decide where a candidate should run, as it decides if a person is upright or not. “And then we will compile a national list that would be supported by the whole civil society. We become more powerful and leave more place for the idea of unity – between civil society, parties and the media,” stated the politician.
