The leader of the Liberal Party Dorin Chirtoacă received a letter by which President Igor Dodon informs him that he will be sued for slander and distortion. President Dodon also demands that he should deny the information posted earlier on his Facebook page, concerning his alleged luxury vacations, IPN reports.

“In August, seeing reports about Dodon’s and his family’s vacations, I matched things and stated my viewpoint. On this occasion, I also raise another issue, namely why Dodon does not sue me for the cases of abuse and corruption in which he has been involved since 2005,” the Liberal leader stated in a news conference.

Dorin Chirtoacă called on the people to analyze things well until the presidential elections. “If this Dodon remains in the presidential office after November 1, it means you don’t have reason and don’t deserve your fate. It means that we, the society in Moldova, consciously promote thieves, offenders and corrupt persons to the highest state posts. We should thus not wonder why we live so badly,” he said.

After Igor Dodon left for Moscow at end-August, Dorin Chirtoacă on his Facebook page wrote that President Dodon was vacationing in Turkey, not in Russia, as he informed. He said that Dodon and another 15 persons who are close to him were resting at the Presidential Villa of the Maxx Royal Resort in Kemer and the total cost of the President’s vacation amounted to about 2 million lei.
