Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca does not believe that a local majority will be created by the end of his term (2015). In the program “In Depth” on Pro TV channel, the mayor said that during six years he struggled and will continue to struggle in the City Hall, especially now that the Liberal Party was removed from power, IPN reports.
Dorin Chirtoaca said only two deputy mayors of Chisinau were elected. There is no majority and the other deputy mayors cannot be voted in. “I do not think that we will have a majority until the end of the term and we will have only two deputy mayors of four. But we need four deputy mayors who are in charge of architecture-urbanism, transport, amenities and the social sphere,” he stated.
As to the referendum on his dismissal from the post of mayor, which the Party of Socialists intends to initiate, Dorin Chirtoaca said such an initiative is ridiculous. Even if the referendum is held, it will not produce the result projected by the organizers.
