The Liberal Party (PL) is not interested in the formation of a majority parliamentary coalition after the local elections, the party’s deputy chairman Dorin Chirtoaca said in a talk show on REN-TV Moldova channel, IPN reports.
Chirtoaca noted that the formation of a parliamentary coalition with the Democratic Party and the Liberal Democratic Party does not look attractive to the PL for the reason that the two parties discredited themselves. “The Liberal Party will not form a coalition with parties that discredited themselves so much by acts of corruption and large-scale thefts. We will not be able to cooperate with them,” he stated.
However, the heavyweight of the PL said the formation of a majority parliamentary coalition is still possible. “The European integration is our major goal. If our European partners insist and offer us support within this coalition, we could accept it. We do not want early legislative elections as these would be disastrous. Forces should be found for the current legislature to work until the end of its mandate,” stated Dorin Chirtoaca.
The Liberal-Democratic leader Vlad Filat earlier said that a majority parliamentary coalition could be formed after the June 14 local elections.
