Dorin Chirtoaca does not consider Mihai Godea an opponent
“I would like to hear this news from the Communists. I mean a possible defection,” Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said, commenting on the decision of first vice president of the PLDM Mihai Godea to run for mayor of Chisinau as an independent candidate and his possible leaving of the party, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The mayor said that anyone who wants may apply to be registered as election runner. “I’m not entitled to comment on Mihai Godea’s decision. I understood that he is not satisfied with the situation and certain things. The answers will anyway come out,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.
The mayor stated he is an alliance colleague with Mihai Godea, has a good relation with him and does not consider him an opponent. “Anyway, it will be the last battle that the Communists will lose in the municipality of Chisinau,” said the mayor.
On May 3, Dorin Chirtoaca announced that he will submit the documents needed to run for a new tenure by May 5. Until the elections, the post of mayor will be held by deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu on an interim basis.
The same day, Mihai Godea announced he will run for mayor of Chisinau independently. He said he has not yet made a decision as regards his defection from the PLDM.
