Dorin Chirtoaca: Bomb threat is an initiative of Communists

Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said he found out about the bomb scare immediately after the phone call was made, but told the councilors to leave the meeting hall in a while, IPN reports.

The mayor stated that the bomb scares repeat and the jokes played by some people disrupt the work of the Municipal Council and the Chisinau City Hall. “It is an act by the Communist opposition, which is trying to sabotage the approval of the municipal budget. They saw they obtain nothing by being absent from the meetings and resorted to bomb scares. They are ready to set the city on fire so as to achieve their goals,” said the mayor.

Dorin Chirtoaca said that he ordered evacuating the people from the building with a slight delay, only after he signed an order and sent it to the Centru Police Inspectorate. “I assumed responsibility for remaining in the meeting hall together with the police so as to see if there was a danger indeed. I did the same during the bomb threat several years ago as I knew it was a hoax,” he stated.

A man phoned the police in the morning of April 2 and informed that he mined the City Hall because he, being a veteran, didn’t receive a dwelling from the local authorities.

Silviu Musuc, deputy head of the Chisinau Police Division, has told IPN that the man will be identified by this evening. He faces a fine of up to 4,000 lei or two years behind bars.
