I would better stay in jail for no reason, on the aberrant accusations made against me, than would join the Democratic Party (PDM), ex-mayor general of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoaca stated in the program “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.
“This is not life in the 21st century to accept conditions of such times as Middle Ages and the Primitive Era, when the people are gagged. The people no longer feel people. The mayors no longer feel themselves representatives of the community. They feel like instruments used by someone. They feel they do not belong and cannot think independently,” stated Dorin Chirtoaca.
He also said that it wasn’t easy for him to decide to resign from the post of mayor, but no other decision was possible. As regards the early mayoral elections in Chisinau municipality, Dorin Chirtoaca said he excludes no variant, including the one that he will run again. According to him, the Liberal Party has several candidates who could run for the mayoralty.
The former mayor said he regrets the made mistakes and that he didn’t manage to do what he promised. “A number of projects failed, like the building of attic-like apartments. Some of the projects are overdue, like the repair of streets. There are persons whom I named to posts and these didn’t cope and there are persons whom I should have better fired on time. It is very painful as the abuse of confidence costs me the most now,” stated Dorin Chirtoaca.
