Mayor General of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoaca said that the participation in the construction of the Bucharest-Chisinau-Kiev highway of the pan-European corridor is the most ambitious project of Chisinau and of the country for the next few years, IPN reports.
According to the mayor, the connection to the pan-European highway will enable to bring the European infrastructure to Moldova. “In 2000 the highway ended in Budapest. The first works on Romania’s territory started in 2014 and by 2020 it will reach the eastern part of Romania and is then expected to cross the Prut River. We will thus also be connected to this very necessary infrastructure. These are the blood vessels of the European economy and we must form part of them,” stated Dorin Chirtoaca.
The pan-European corridor aims to connect the capitals of Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine from the south to the north.
