If mayoral elections were held in Chisinau tomorrow, 33.7% of the respondents of a poll would vote for current mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, while 24.5% - for Zinaida Grecheanyi. Thus, the two candidates would compete in the second round of voting. The poll was carried out by the Center for Sociological Investigations and Marketing CBS-AXA and was presented in a news conference on May 26, IPN reports.
Oazu Nantoi would poll 5.1% of the vote, former mayor of Chisinau Serafim Urechean – 3.5%, while the independent candidates would gain only 1% together.
The Liberal Party’s team of candidates for the Chisinau Municipal Council would win 25.4% of the ballot, of the Party of Socialists – 21.2%, of the electoral bloc “European People’s Party - Iurie Leanca” – 7.2%, of the party “Partidul Nostru” – 5.6%, while of the Party of Communists – 3.4%. Over 30% of those surveyed haven’t yet decided who to vote for and are not yet sure that they will take part in the elections.
The poll was conducted on May 6-18 and covered a sample of 1,621 persons. The margin of sampling error is 2.4%.
