As many as 100 children from Moldova and abroad will take part in the second summer camp that will be organized by the Bureau for Diaspora Relations within the DOR Program in 2014. The program is intended for children and teens from the Moldovan diaspora. The summer camp will take place in Moldova on August 20-27, IPN reports.
The head of the Bureau for Diaspora Relations Victor Lutenco said that 80 of the 100 children will come from over ten countries where they live together with their parents. At the summer camp, the children will be able to embroider, cook traditional dishes and enrich their knowledge of the Romanian language.
“For 2014, we extended the number of participants and the age bracket, following requests from the diaspora. Last year, we brought 25 children to Moldova and are very glad that they continue to keep in touch between them,” said Victor Lutenco.
The participants in the camp will be selected at a contest. The basic requirements are: age between 12 and 17, basic knowledge of Romanian and payment of a participation tax of €100 and the round-trip ticket. The food and accommodation costs will be covered by the Government.
Victor Lutenco said there will be provided a limited number of awards that will cover the transport expenses and the participation tax. The awards will be offered to participants from socially deprived families.
The deadline for the submission of applications is March 1, 2014. More information about the participation is available on www.dor.md.
