Doors Open Day at Municipal Adult Learning and Education Center

Education doesn’t have age and this is proven by participants in free courses staged by the Municipal Adult Learning and Education Center, who came to the Doors Open Day to sum up the results of the year. The oldest trainee is 82, IPN reports.

Daniela Munca-Aftenev, deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport of the Chisinau Municipal Council, said that this is the first such center in the Republic of Moldova. The institution has almost 2,000 beneficiaries. The educational offer includes over 31 different titles, personal and professional development courses. Among the accessible courses are accounting, photography, cloth design, foreign languages, oratory, writing of projects, etc. “We seek to diversify the offer and every two months offer new courses. We also carry out surveys with beneficiaries of the municipality of Chisinau and ask them why they need us to provide such courses so that these satisfy the needs of any citizen who needs to develop,” said the functionary.

Daniela Munca-Aftenev noted that all the halls are full during the week, since Tuesday, and also on Saturday, when the activities last until 9 p.m. This shows that the trainees from Chisinau and from the suburban settlements need to create and learn new things and therefore find time to attend the courses even if they sometimes come from far away. Owing to this dialog, whole communities that communicate outside the courses are created. Three are people who go to several courses, one after another. The oldest trainee is 82, but there are also young trainees and this means that a dialog between generations is formed.

Among the beneficiaries of courses are unemployed persons, lyceum students, young people who do not yet have a job, but aim to gain knowledge or to build a career. To enroll on a course, the persons need to fill out a form on the website of the Chisinau City Hall or of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport. “We start the course when the group is formed and when the number of hours earmarked for a course are taught, we immediately take the list of those who registered and invite them to the next course. It is a nonstop process,” said Daniela Munca-Aftenev. The Center’s trainers also teach certified courses approved by the National Quality Assurance Agency in Education and Research.

The opening of the first innovative educational hub in the country was possible thanks to investments made by the Chisinau City Hall in partnership with the Representative Office of the German Association for Adult Education in the Republic of Moldova AO “DVV International Moldova”, based on a memorandum of understanding for mutual cooperation.
