The inhabitants of Chisinau are urged to donate books and toys for children and young people from municipal placement centers. The initiative was launched by an entrepreneur for the winter holidays, but it was then decided to continue the project until Easter. Contacted by IPN, Cristina Garbuz, who initiated the project, said the most original donation was made by a private individual, who brought a piano for children of a Chisinau placement center. Now those children will be able to learn to play this musical instrument.
“Initially, we wanted to donate books because I’m also a book author. I donated a part of my books and thought that there could be persons willing to donate books for children and also toys or teaching aids for their intellectual development,” stated Cristina Garbuz.
All kinds of books, new and old, have been donated so far. There were donated mainly books in Russian, but books in Romanian, English and even textbooks are also needed.
Four donations boxes were placed at the following addresses: 1 Cosbuc (near Fornetti store), 78, 31 august 1989 St nr. 78 (inside the National Library “V. Alecsandri”), 143 V. Alecsandri St (Unimarket store) and 17 Vlaicu Parcalab St (National Stomatology Clinic). The installation of boxes cost the entrepreneur 10,000 lei.
