Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk discussed the ways in which Poland can help Moldova before the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU and afterward, in its European integration efforts. The Polish official said that Poland will continue to be the advocate of Moldova’s European integration. The two officials had a meeting in Warsaw, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué of the Government, Donald Tusk approved of Moldova’s reasonable and balanced position on the developments in Ukraine and of the way the country aims to diminish the effects of the crisis.
In this connection, Iurie Leanca said that this crisis affects not only the security, but also the economic situation and not only in Moldova, but also in other states. “I hope reason will triumph and the international mechanisms will be used to overcome the crisis in Ukraine,” he stated.
The Moldovan head of Government added that the country is also witnessing nice and positive moments, including the abolition of the EU visa requirements and the planned signing of the Association Agreement. “This is a new stage in Moldova’s development. Poland played an enormous role in achieving this stage,” said Iurie Leanca.
The last time Donald Tusk visited Moldova this March. Iurie Leanca paid his last visit to Poland last autumn.
