The judge of the Chisinau Appeals Court Domnica Manole considers that the actions by the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and the National Integrity Commission (NIC) are evidently illegal. In a press statement, the judge informs that the NIC on July 6 ordered that she should be subject to control so as to see if she lawfully declared her incomes and property in 2015, following a request from the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, IPN reports.
The necessity of the examination is explained by the criminal case started by acting prosecutor general Eduard Harunjen against the judge for malevolence when passing a court judgment.
“I think the actions taken by the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and the NIC are obviously illegal. First of all, I want to note that the Commission already examined my income and property statements for 2014-2015 and identified no violations in this regard,” stated Domnica Manole.
The judge says the request of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office bears no relation to the object of the criminal case started against her as it is not about acts or corruption or conflicts of interests, but about her decision to oblige the Central Election Commission to organize the constitutional referendum initiated by the Platform “Dignity and Truth”.
Domnica Manole noted that the given check is initiated before the examination by the Supreme Court of Justice of the challenge of the Superior Council of Magistracy’s decision to allow taking legal action against her. This shows that a well-thought-out plan was designed to intimidate her by using any means possible. This makes her distrust the national law enforcement system.
The National Integrity Commission is to examine the case concerning the possible violations committed by Domnica Manole on July 7, starting at 10am.
