Domestic violence can be prevented during childhood
Violence against women does not depend on the studies of the aggressor or the victim or their level of intelligence. It depends on the culture of every person apart. The problem is that not much work is done with the young people and children since early childhood. It is important that competent persons speak to them about violence and its possible consequences, the head of the Association against Violence “Casa Marioarei”, Elena Burca stated for Info-Prim Neo.
Elena Burca said the aggressive persons are not powerful persons. They are weak individuals who try to impose themselves and show their power by using simple instruments at the initial stage. If the partner accepts, the used instruments become harsher day by day.
“They consider that it is a shame to tell what’s happening in the family. There was a proverb saying that an unbeaten woman is like a non-swept house. Now they say that the bad is with the bad, but it is worse without this bad. The women must help themselves. The psychologist tells them only that they are able to cope and makes them have confidence in themselves. Even so there are women who return to live with the aggressor because they accumulated property together,” said Elena Burca.
Studies show that an abused woman goes through seven cycles. When she reaches the last cycle, she can no longer endure and leaves. “Psychologists are needed to counsel couples as the problem resides in the aggressor’s intention to take over the power. The abuse of alcohol and the absence of a job can also lead to violence. It is yet grave that the children also resort to violence when they grow up. According to studies, 40% of the children from families where domestic violence is used continue to be violent,” stated Elena Burca.
About 1,000 women seek help from the Association against Violence “Casa Marioarei” every year.
