The Chisinau Municipal Council approved a draft decision on the local taxes for 2018 in the first reading. At the suggestion of the General Finance Division, there was introduced a tax for dog owners, who will pay an annual tax of 120 lei per animal, IPN reports.

Socialist councilor Ion Ceban proposed specifying the conditions of collecting the money from owners of pets in the second reading.

According to the deputy head of the General Finance Division Zinaida Jaloba, who also serves as acting head of the Division, proposals for identifying resources for laying out public areas for dogs are to be submitted for the final reading.

At the suggestion of the Public Transport and Communications Division, the local parking tax was raised from 12 to 18 lei per square meter.

The other local taxes stipulated in the draft decision are the same as those for 2017.
