That’s why putting her forward for the presidency is a matter of principle for Dodon. If Mihai Ghimpu maintains that he will not elect a former Communist, there should be identified a neutral candidate. For Bucharest it would be hard to accept Missis Greceanyi’s candidacy and it may influence a part of the voters,” said Anatol Taranu. He considers that there may be a third presidential candidate. “There are many persons who can hold this post. We have academicians, people of culture. Why not Eugen Doga? Lupu must understand that his chances are practically nil. If the PCRM does not take part in the voting, Lupu will never poll 61 votes. Lupu and Greceanyi should move their political ambitions four years forward. Only a neutral candidate can bring the political crisis to an end,” said Anatol Taranu. He also said that the PCRM was deprived of the possibility of maneuvering. “Voronin was dethroned by one move. The PCRM is unable to work in a democracy, but maybe this loss will make them change tactics,” stated Anatol Taranu. The talks on the designation of the candidate for the presidency will continue, if need be, until November 14, which is the deadline for the submission of applications. The announcement was made after Friday’s meeting of the Council of the Alliance for European Integration, which involved Igor Dodon.
