The "Dodon's dismissal" group is giving up its hunger strike announced for the period of August 5-9. In a press conference held at IPN, the group stated that they were informed by the Prosecutor General’s Office about the receipt of the request submitted on August 1, in which they requested that the head of state be held criminally liable "for the promotion of Russia's interests in the Republic of Moldova".
The group leader, Vasile Costiuc, said that Igor Dodon poses a danger to the country, as Dodon takes control over several state institutions. Costiuc expressed his hope that "within a reasonable period of time, the Prosecutor’s Office will act on our request and ask Parliament to prosecute Igor Dodon, occupant of the position of the President of the Republic of Moldova".
"Under the pretext of de-oligarchization of the country, one oligarchic regime is replaced by another oligarchic regime, much more monstrous and more destructive", said Vasile Costiuc.
Dumitru Munteanu, university professor and member of the group, said that Igor Dodon is "the representative of the Soviet regime, who deported the Bessarabians to Siberia and Kazakhstan, impoverishing the Romanian people through organized famine." Dumitru Munteanu says that "this KGB-style system is still in force today, only that it has changed its methods. The regime's agents are infiltrated in all the institutions, they fulfill the diabolical plans of totalitarianism and they must be stopped”.
Another group member, Vasile Sinigur, said that the hunger strike would be resumed if the Prosecutor's Office did not act within a reasonable period of time.. "We are waiting for a result from the Prosecutor General’s Office, but it’s unlikely, given that the acting prosecutor general has been appointed by Dodon”, said Vasile Sinigur.
On August 1, the Group members announced that on Monday, August 5, they would go on hunger strike in front of the US Embassy "to draw the attention of the partners that, if they do not get involved, it will be late in the middle of the year to remove us from the clutches of Putin”.
