Dodon withdraws draft national security strategy approved by Timofti

President Igor Dodon signed a decree to withdraw the draft national security strategy and the plan of action for implementing this that were approved during the presidency of Nicolae Timfoti. The Head of State argued that the content of the two documents no longer corresponds to the substantial changes witnessed in the national, regional and international security spheres, IPN reports.

“In this connection, I ordered to set up a new commission for working out the national security strategy of the Republic of Moldova, which would meet the national interests and neutrality status and would strengthen the statehood and would modernize our country,” said Igor Dodon.

The presidential administration said the initiation of the working out of the national security strategy is a prerogative of the President of the Republic of Moldova, which is enshrined in the Law on National Defense.
