The leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon accused President Maia Sandu of having had secret discussions with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and that she could cause an ecological crisis on the Nistru River. He noted the Socialist MPs will put forward the proposal to create a special parliamentary commission centering on the situation on the Nistru, IPN reports.
After the meeting of the PSRM’s political executive, Igor Dodon said he served as co-chairman of the joint intergovernmental commission for a long period of time and knows the Moldovan-Ukrainian agenda that includes at least three important subjects: the catastrophic ecological situation on the Nistru; border demarcation and the property, especially the Moldovan one, on the territory of Ukraine.
“First of all, a solution could not be found as the President in the Republic of Moldova does not decide anything. The Government and Parliament decide. That’s why these are shows and PR,” noted Igor Dodon, stating that Moldova’s position should be very clear – no barrages should be built on the Nistru.
Contacted by IPN for a comment, representatives of the presidential administration said they will come later with a reaction to Igor Dodon’s statements.
