Dodon rejects again candidate for defense minister Sturza

President Igor Dodon announced that he rejected again Eugen Sturza, who was proposed for minister of defense. Referring to the Government’s decision to request the Constitutional Court to pronounce on the minister appointment procedure, Dodon said that procedures are being invented in order to engage again the CC in political schemes, IPN reports.

“If the current Constitutional Court tries to exclude the presidential administration from the process of naming ministers and will juggle again with the law in favor of the government coalition, it will discredit itself completely and will be itself liable to punishment when time comes,” Igor Dodon wrote on his Facebook page.

As to the government coalition’s candidate for minister of defense, Igor Dodon reiterated that this is “incompetent and politicized” and any attempt to invest him without a presidential decree will be illegal.

The Government on September 19 asked the Constitutional Court to interpret Article 98, par. (6) of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova and determine the actions that can be taken by the Premier and the decisions that can be adopted by Parliament if the President of the Republic of Moldova rejects the candidate for minister the second time.
