Dodon receives suggestions from clergy

A group of Orthodox priests suggested to Igor Dodon, the Communist Party's candidate for Chisinau Mayor, to introduce the post of mayoral adviser on “matters of religion and public morals”, Info-Prim Neo reports. This and other nine suggestions were delivered to Dodon in a formal address, signed by Fr. Zosima Toia, Priest Inspector of Chisinau, and other priests from the church St. Teodor Tiron, located in Chisinau. In the event Igor Dodon is elected Mayor, he is asked to revise the agenda of holidays in the city so as to harmonize it with the Christian calendar. Another request is to consult priests on whatever matters that might affect “the normal course of the Christian life in the city”. “For me personally, the Church is one of the pillars of Moldova's statehood and our Orthodox belief is of paramount importance. As a true Christian, I have always supported the Church, being a sponsor both in Chisinau and elsewhere in the country”, declared Igor Dodon. Feodor Rosca, senior priest at St. Teodor Tiron, said he didn't think that the priests' address was a political gesture, arguing it was their duty to ensure that the head of the city was a good Christian and a person who would help the Church.
