The Socialists will give their votes to Nicolae Timofti, Igor Dodon said in the special sitting of Parliament where the head of state is to be elected, Info-Prim Neo reports. “One of the requirements of the Socialists was to field an apolitical candidate for the presidency, who was to go through three filters. Nicolae Timofti meets this condition. We had serious discussions and understood that Mister Timofti will take the statehood test daily. He accepted this test and we will vote for him,” said Igor Dodon. He also said that the people are tired of instability and want the internal political situation to be clear. “This clarity will be made today. We understand that everyone’s attention is directed to the group of Socialists. It depends on us whether the President is elected. By today’s vote, we assume great responsibility, but will also attract criticism. We wanted to share this responsibility with the PCRM. A part of the people want the President to be elected, while others want early elections. We came to this decision after thoroughly analyzing things and making forecasts for the future. We remembered what we said when we left the Communist faction,” stated Igor Dodon. In order to become President, Nicolae Timofti must poll at the least 61 votes of MP. The group of Socialists has three members.
