Dodon discussed his defection from PCRM with Filat even last year, Vladimir Voronin

Igor Dodon intended to leave the Communist Party (PCRM) even last August or September, the party’s leader said Friday. According to Vladimir Voronin, the creation of the new parliamentary group was planned last year, in a meeting of Igor Dodon and the Liberal-Democratic leader Vlad Filat in Poland. It also involved a representative of the Polish government, Info-Prim Neo reports. “There they discussed what this group of Dodon should do next. Afterward, visits had been paid to Brussels, Moscow and other places,” Vladimir Voronin told the journalists. Asked why he did not exclude Igor Dodon from the PCRM when he found out about his intention, Vladimir Voronin said such issues are discussed within the party not before the press. On the other hand, Igor Dodon told the reporters that he wasn’t in Poland in that period. He was then involved in the campaign that preceded the September referendum. “Mister Voronin mixed something up. I do not remember having such meetings. I have been in Krynitsa this year. I took part in an economic forum and had a number of meetings there,” he stated. Igor Dodon left the PCRM and its parliamentary group early in November, together with Zinaida Greceanyi and Veronica Abramchuk.
