Dodon: date of presidential elections with PCRM would have been set long ago

The chairman of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon regrets that the Communist MPs are absent from the sittings of Parliament as, together with them, they would have fixed the date of the presidential elections, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a program on the TV channel Publika TV, Igor Dodon said the Communists would have taken more steps towards achieving their goals if they had attended the Parliament’s sittings. ”If they had been in the assembly hall, we would have set the date of the presidential elections two weeks ago. But they adopted an inappropriate position and thus cannot return to the sittings. They said the legislative body is illegitimate and will not take part in its sittings,” said Igor Dodon. Asked if in the future Parliament they would form a coalition with the PCRM, Igor Dodon made it clear that this is possible. “We will never form a coalition government or alliance with Mihai Ghimpu’s Liberal Party. We believe there may be other formulas,” he stated. As to the possible candidates for the presidency, Igor Dodon said that other candidates may be examined in the near future so as to reach a compromise and set the date of the elections. Otherwise, the Acting President will ask the Constitutional Court to decide if the circumstances allow dissolving Parliament.
