The leader of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon and the leader of the “Our Party” Renato Usatyi will not seek to terminate the Association Agreement with the European Union if they come to power as a result of early parliamentary elections. At least this is what they said in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
“I should be understood correctly. I’m not against the European Union. It is our neighbor and we should get on well. I’m against the so-called European integration, when foreign values are imposed on us. Let’s take this antidiscrimination law that directly impinges on the Christian values of the Moldovan people. If we come to power as a result of early elections, we will review some of the provisions of the Association Agreement. We will also reestablish the good relations with Russia. But fighting corruption is the most important thing as we must make sure that the state institutions work,” said Igor Dodon.
Renato Usatyi shared these opinions. “I have the same ideas as Mister Dodon. It’s not fair to call me pro-Russian. I’m pro-Moldovan. If we enter Parliament, we will review particular provisions of the Association Agreement,” he stated. He noted that he does not support the antidiscrimination law. “I could accept a marriage between two women, but I will never accept a marriage between two men,” he said.
The two politicians stated that they will insist on the resignation of President Nicolae Timofti so that early legislative elections could be called. “We cannot wait for half a year. We cannot allow those who are in power to steal for another half a year,” they said.
