In order to be able to take part in the November 30 parliamentary elections, the Moldovans must have the identity card with the accompanying loose leaf or the temporary identity card showing where the holder lives, or the work permit for servicemen, IPN reports. The Moldovans who will vote outside the country can do it based on the passport or the sailor’s record. The Central Election Commission repeatedly warns that from September 1, voting based on the Soviet-type passport is no longer possible.
Under the electoral legislation, the persons who on the election day will not be in the settlement where they have the domicile or residence can ask for a voting certificate at the electoral office of a polling place. This certificate allows the holder to vote at any other polling place on the country’s territory. It is issued until November 29 inclusive.
The ICT Ministry informs that the temporary identity card between November 25 and 30 will be issued free of charge to the Moldova citizens with the right to vote, namely to holders of ‘invalid’ identification papers, including Soviet-type passports, and to persons whose documents were lost or stolen or who earlier didn’t have identification papers.
The Moldovan citizens with the right to vote will be able to obtain the temporary identity card when they apply for it. It will be issued in a simplified form, after establishing the identity and legal status (Moldovan nationality) of the applicant. No civil status documents should be presented if the applicant was earlier included in the State Population Register.
According to statistical data, more than 4,500 temporary identity cards were issued gratis in the period of the elections of 2009 – 2011.
