Documentary series on Moldovan deportees aired by TVR International

For the next ten weeks, starting November 1, the Romanian channel TVR International will broadcast, as part of a show called “Lumea şi noi” (The world and us), a documentary series containing accounts of several Moldovan people who survived deportations to Siberia during June 1940 - March 1953 and providing an insight into the history of that phenomenon, Info-Prim Neo reports. As Romania’s General Consulate in Cahul said in a press release, a TVR crew conducted by the Romania historian Filaret Acatrinei visited Moldova for two filming sessions to produce this historical documentary on the deportations that occurred under soviet occupation. The film presents narrated stories along with documents and photographs provided by twenty deportation survivors. The TV series dedicated to the mass deportations was produced at the initiative of Romania’s General Consulate in Cahul.
