The Documentary Film Festival “Millennium”, which brings to the public in Chisinau the best documentaries awarded in time at the “Millennium” Festival held in Brussels, was opened in Chisinau on October 24. This is hosted by the Odeon Cinema in Chisinau and will last until October 26 inclusive, IPN reports.
Leontina Vatamanu, artistic director of the International Documentary Film Festival “Chronograph” held in Moldova, in the opening of the Festival said this is an important event that became famous in Europe owing to the way in which the screened documentaries are chosen. This was launched in 2009. “The films we will present to the public in Chinua during the next few days were carefully selected, are of a high artistic quality and address global problems,” she stated.
According to Leontina Vatamanu, the given documentaries were chosen from among over 1,000 films and are about ecology, poverty, migration and refugees. “It is the first edition of the kind, but I think this event should be repeated the next years. We set the goal of bringing high-quality documentaries to the public in Chisinau as new horizons to the world we live in are thus opened up,” noted the artistic director.
Two films were shown on the first day of the festival – “Taste of cement” and “The other side of all things”. On October 25, there will be screened “Decent Postman” at 5pm and “On the other side of the wall” at 7pm. On October 26, there will be shown another two films – “Thanks for rain” at 5pm and “A captured woman” at 7pm.
The Documentary Film Festival “Millennium” in Chisinau is organized by OWH Studio in Moldova under the auspices of the UN in Moldova and the International Documentary Film Festival “Chronograph”.
