The document to found the Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine Parliamentary Assembly was signed by the Heads of Parliament of the three states in Kiev on June 9. The assembly will have the status of a consultative body and its statutes will be approved in a meeting later, IPN reports.
According to the press service of the Parliament of Moldova, this inter-parliamentary body will serve as a platform for promoting the interests of the three states and for cooperating and exchanging opinions on areas of common interest.
The three Heads of Parliament were unanimous in the idea that they should be more sonorous at international level, especially as regards their position on the current common security challenges, including energy security, non-sanctioned presence of foreign troops on the territories occupied by Russia in the three states, misinformation and fake news.
Given the common aspirations of joining the European Union, the Speakers of the three states pledged to cooperate to ensure the proper implementation of reforms and the commitments assumed when the three countries were given the status of EU associates and to share the good practices.
