In connection with the parliamentary elections and in a move to provide the Moldovans eligible to vote with identification papers so that they can take part in the elections, all the document issuing sections of the country will have longer working hours on November 30, from 7am until 9pm, IPN reports.
In the period between November 25 and 30, these sections issue free temporary identity cards to the people eligible to vote, at request. This applies to people with invalid identification papers, including holders of Soviet-type passports who, for certain reasons, didn’t get the identity card and to people whose papers were lost or stolen or who didn’t have identification papers earlier.
The Central Election Commission allowed the people with the right to vote to take part in the parliamentary elections with identification papers whose period of validity expired. Thus, temporary identity card in this case is not issued.
The temporary identity card is issued in a simplified way, after establishing the identity and legal status (Moldovan nationality) of the applicant, without requiring civil status documents, if the applicant was earlier included in the State Population Register.
