Doctors warn about risks first graders face
The schoolbag of a 7 year old child who goes to school mustn’t weigh more than a kilo, Info-Prim Neo learned from Trofim Ostalep, head of the youth and children health section of the National Center for Public Health.
If the weight limit is exceeded, the children’s health is threatened as they risk damaging their locomotion system. It is recommended for schoolbags to be carried in hands and to avoid overloading them with books and notebooks.
Ministry of Education’s Special Textbook Fund head Gheorghe Garnet said that a book weighs around 300-350 grams. Elementary school books have around 100 pages, middle school – up to 150 pages, and high-school books – around 200 pages.
